Favorite elk rifle

Recently upgraded about 15 years ago from a Savage to a Tikka in 30-06. This is the only caliber I have used to hunt deer and elk. for over half a century, using plain ordinary Remington Cor-Lokt ammo nothing fancy or modern that is out in the market.

That was my father's stand by for 50 years.

Winchester model 70

Bushnell bdc scope

Remington core lokts....

I saw him shoot does mid air leaping

Buck then 2 does he was following

Never failed him...

Of course he did have reservations after a SMALL black bear absorbed 5 rounds and he reached out and touched its eye with the barrel from where he stood...

Sometimes simple, familiar and comfortable are the best options...

I'm not the experienced elk hunter like most of you, I have one cow and one bull elk to my credit. My "elk rifle" is a GA Precision extreme Hunter 6.5 SAUM (Credit to Pat Sinclair helping me with the build)
Templar VI action
Bartlein #3 contour 6.5 8.7 twist, 24"
I removed the Vias brake to use a thread adapter and my Ultra 7 6.5
Manners EH-SL stock
APA RTG DBM
30mm talley lightweight Lows
S&B PMII 10x42
weighs 8lb 12oz without can.

How much does it weigh in at including, sling, rounds and can?

Make no mistake about it, Pat's one of the good guys!

This has become my everything big game favorite.
APR built Nosler 30 shooting 230s at 2950.

I've ran this one to 3050 but found best groups at 2950 in 4 different bullets and obviously less barrel wear. I shot a 200 fed tlr, 200 accubond 215 and 230 berger to a 3 inch group at 300 recently.

Specs
Defiance tenacity
Muller barrel 1:10 at 26 inches with a vias brake
Jewel
AG Composites stock
VX6HD 4-24 in seekins
All in 9.25 lbs

These groups were shot in separate trips over the past 2 weeks, 100, 300 and 600 yards all cold bore dial and shoot groups.
