Hi there everyone I'm on the hunt for a new deer/ elk rifle and am really eyeing the suppressor ready X bolts if they ever become available but have a few questions. Looking at one in 7mm RM is cutting down the barrel to 22" a complete waste of that cartridge? I do not currently have a suppressor but would really like to try one. I also like the idea of the 1-8 twist browning is putting in the suppressor ready model vs the 1-9.5 of the regular speed model. On a side not does anyone else make a similar priced 7mag in a 1-9 or faster twist under 7lb?

Also is the weights and specs on browning website usually correct? Spec wise I can't see any difference in the western hunter lr and speed lr other than paint job but the WH weighs 6lb 14oz and the Speed LR is listed as 7lb 8oz?

I think the speed has a slimmer profile barrel iirc.

I tried to order an xbolt stalker lr model 7rm ( 26" faster twist with threadded barrel) when they first came out--- when it showed up , it was the std twist rate-- they never changed the model number in the faster twist barrel so there was confusion at the warehouse.

I'm actually glad I got what I got because it's a tack driver ---.38 moa for me out to 700 yards. From both the 162eldm/x and 144 hh bullets. I bought a box of the 175 burgers but havent tried them yet cause the others shoot so dang well.

If you really want to shoot heavies than get the faster twist- but don't be afraid of the std twist either. -- I did put an "ernie the gunsmith" trigger spring in it, but other than that it's stock.

You're not going to be able to cut it down with the fluting they put on a sporter weight barrel on those models, the barrel won't be able to be threaded with a full shoulder left on it.

Speed LR has an adjustable cheek-piece, probably not 10 full ounces but enough that the models weighted different and got different specs. Barrel contours are different on paper but unless I had them side by side there's no good way to figure out if that's just naming convention or if the fluting/diameter really is different between the two.

X-Bolt factory stocks are meh to me, my X-Bolt just went into a McMillan because I was tired of the flexing.

Sorry I didn't mean chopping the barrel myself. Browning now offers a suppressor ready 22" 7mag and wasnt sure if that would put it down to a 7-08 level as I've heard some folks say.

The Speed LR and Western Hunter LR have the same adjustable stock and similar suppressor ready Sporter countours with the Speed LR being fluted which makes even less sense to me why it would be heavier.

Good to know that 1-9.5 isn't giving up too much as compared to 1-8 though

OH my bad, I see the actual model of "X-Bolt Speed Suppressor Ready" now, I was looking at the Speed and Speed LR models, which is why I thought you had to get it cut down.

I wish they offered the McMillan version with the Game Scout stock and the 22" barrel from the factory, that would be a mean combination.

Well called my LGS and they said maybe they could get a 7mag X bolt suppressor ready by next season. Basically only 7 mag they have is a Christensen ridgeline. How's the quality on these been recently?
