Eye Glasses & Binoculars don't mix well

I can adjust the eye relief on my rifle scopes to shoot with or without my shooting glasses; I cannot find a binocular that works with corrective lens.
I'm nearsighted I can't see much of anything past 10 yards without my glasses, so I'm forced to continuously remove and replace them. I talked to Decot about flip-ups but he didn't know anyone who could provide shooting glasses in that style.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You
Ed

I have had a similar issues. I have found some bino's that have enough eye relief to work. The ones I like the best are the zeiss conquest. I use the older ones in a 12X. the lower magnification ones should be good also. Just remove the rubber eye cups. Stop by a Cabelas or Bass Pro or larger sporting goods store and try different models until you find one you like. I have a older pair of Swarovski's that also work. Try a few more of the better quality ones out. I bet you can find one that will work just fine. Bruce

Depending on how nearsighted you are , there is a limit on how many diopters of nearsightedness that a scope will accommodate for. The better scopes will do 2 maybe 3 at the most.

This might be too much I don't know but have you checked out Lasik surgery? I was VERY near sided until I got Lasik (about 10 years ago) and I love it I would never go back...

I will suggest being VERY careful about LASIK. My wife and I have both had it done. I still wear glasses, although with much thinner lenses. My wife had a situation this past year where her eyes changed so much in 2 mo that the eye Dr thought they had mixed up charts. Long story short the specialist she went to in Denver says LASIK is causing more problems than it helps and should usually not be done. He sees hundreds of LASIK patients with this issue. If you want further info on this PM me and I'll pass on my wife's e-mail address and she will provide first hand info. Bruce

I heard that before in the early 2000s when I 1st inquired but mostly for those younger than 45 years old (IIRC). A couple of my son's friends that are pilots had theirs done and was basically told to expect another procedure (LASIK or PRK (does not involve cutting a corneal flap) ?) after a few years. My nephew has his done while he was in the USAF when he was 32 and at 38; he retired in 2010.

Having said that, I know quite a few people in my age group that had theirs done without any problems. :D

I fell for all the hype. I was 20/600 near sighted. With correction 20/20.The operation went great 20/15 for five years. Then at 55 I started a downhill slide to extreme far sightedness, still sliding. You are rolling the dice. Being near sighted you can read and see up close. Being far sighted your vision is blurred , up close and far. Far sightedness sucks!

I'm seriously looking into that myself ... getting tired of contacts. :D

I wore contacts.....for about 30 seconds and told the doc to get them out of my eyes before I went totally crazY!

A cataract operation cured me of eye problems and the glasses I was made to wear from age 13 until about age 58 went into the dumpster. I was 20/45 in one eye and 20/200 in my bad eye.....went to combined vision of 20/12 1/2 no glasses.

Lots better than it was for almost 50 years

Contacts or Lasik maybe the answer, but it seems when I put on eye protection, I'm back to the same problem.

Thanks for the suggestions

Wow. Glad I jumped in here. I have been seriously contemplating eye surgery as well, but after reading this I might need to put some more thought into it first. I've had glasses since kindergarten and they are truely a pain. My vision is nearly too poor to use contacts. I've had them before, but I can't see as well.

Anyways,
A few years ago I bought a set of Leupold BX-3 Mojave binos and they too have retractible eye cups. I actually get along quite well while using them with my glasses and the eye cups turned all the way in. It's the first descent set of binoculars I've had and I've been quite pleased with how well I've been able to use them.
