Hello All,

I have a reload for a .30-06. Here is the recipe, 180gr Nosler Accubond over 53.5g of IMR 4350 with a Winchester Standard Rifle Primer seated 0.03" off the lands.

The published BC for the 180gr Nosler Accubond is .507

Zeroed at 100 yards, it drops 3" at 200 yards.

What will the approximate drop be at 300 and 400 yards?

Thanks

Tom

you should shoot to make sure but this will get you close.

That's about 8" more than I guessed.

I appreciate the ballistics calculator but I don't know the velocity.

Thanks for the info.

Need more data!

I doubt that you are getting that bullet out at 2950 fps, but maybe.
Don't know sight height yada yada yada

Sight height 1.5
2950 fps
.507 BC
sea level 80F

100 zero
-3.0 @ 200yds
-11.2 @ 300
-25.3 @ 400

your mileage may vary :)

edge.

Hey Edge,

That is closer to what I'm thinking. I'd say it's possible that my sight is right around 1.5" above. I have one the VX3-L's so it rides really low.

I doubt I'm going anywhere near 2900 fps since this is mild load that is seated way off the lands. The charge range on IMR 4350 is approximately 50g to 56g and I'm down at 53.5g.

I've got a really big target 16" in diameter and a reasonable accurate rifle (.75 MOA) so as long as I'm within 5-8" on the drop I should be able to hit what I'm aiming for.

Anyone else want to chime in here.

Thanks

Tom

Yea I had guessed you to be pushing the 180g bullet at around 2450-2500fps that's why I have you as low as I do. I found another load over on reloadersnest that is useing the 180g accubond and they were using 54.9grains of the same powder as you and they chronographed theirs at 2550.

I used 2500 fps in the software and it says 17" low at 300 yards and 37.9" low at 400 yards. LOL. Nice Sniper!

It also says 4.9" low at 200 yards, I'm going to assume that the 3" low that I see at 200 yards is due to the scope height or some other factor.

17" and 38" should be good enough for what I'm trying to do.

Thanks to all!

Tom
