Elk Ivory, what's up

First elk hunt. Cow for the freezer.

The guide and processor were keen on the "ivory". So what's up with it. What do I do other than bag it and tag it as the "trophy", which for me is an appropriate trophy even if it was a bull.

I made my wife a pair of ear rings out of the pair I harvested from this yrs cow. Sort of an early Christmas present, and she loves 'em.

Young cow elk with small ivories make prime 'ear hangers' -plus being the best eating elk meat IMHO.

We have made rings, earring or necklaces out of them. Some people like them and some don't. personal preference. I have a tie tac and the rest are in a jar. Bruce

I give mine to a friend who makes gold watch chains. They look very classy.
