Elk, Bear rifle??

Roll a 30in McGowen barrel on your model 12 or a used Savage action, get a bolt face, chamber it in a 338RUM or EDGE with a DE brake drop it into a LRH type stock and spend the larger half of your money on a high end range finder and reloading supplies so you can put significant rounds down range, through a Kestrel in there also.

A 338 win mag will do what you need......
you want to carry more weight and use more
powder get something larger......

In the 338 win mag the 225 gr bullets do very well on deer up to elk thatI have
shot at varied distances. Clean kills with sptbt now trying Nos accubond in the
225gr over RL19 win cases and 215M shot a very nice group at 100 did a work up
to 500yds will shoot to now true stats........
This should work well on any game in North America..............Has 2140 ft*lbs at 450yds

Hey there im new to the sight but am a big fan of the long ranger shooters... i do alot of small cal 500 shooting but i really am wanting to get serious to 1000 yds for elk and bear... im looking to see what cal rifle you guys think would be the best bet for me...

This is what started the thread.

My 7mm rem mag loaded with 168vld going 2960fps. It produces about 2165ft/lb at 450 yards at 6000ft.

Check out the huskemaw website, the bc calculator is fun to use.
