This was originally scheduled for July 2020 and re-scheduled several times, of course because of the pandemic Covid-19. Jumped through the hoops to make this hunt mid to end of April 2021. This was a package hunt for 7 plains game plus added Nyala, to me one of the most elegant of Africa's antelope. Hunted with Nick Bowker Hunting (https://nickbowkerhunting.com), ranch located close to Bedford, SA (2 hours north of Port Elizabeth).
Hunting was different to what I am used to here at home, rarely shoot a whitetail close to 100 yards. Average of the shots taken was 300 yards, off of Rudolph Quad shooting sticks. This was a large learning curve for me! Rifle used was a stainless Sako 85 with synthetic stock, Swarovski DS 5-25x56 range-finding scope and supressor in .300 Winchester Magnum. Handloaded ammo used the Hornady 200 grain ELD-X. My trophy package was Nyala, Eastern Cape Kudu, Impala, Black Wildebeest, Blesbuck, Warthog, Springbuck and Mountain Reedbuck. Several photos attached, not all of what I was able to hunt. Great news as all of my dip and pack trophies are ready to be shipped home to the taxidermist already! Nyala, Kudu, Warthog, Black Wildebeest in photos.
Nick Bowker compliments and encourages long range hunting on his ranch and surrounding access, and has some large cull packages for antelope culls. I originally was going back in 2022 for that, but switched to other antelope I really want to hunt (Sable, Waterbuck, Zebra, Red Hartebeest, Red Lechwe, etc). Weather was like early October in Ohio, very comfortable. Excellent trip.
