With the up coming elections and the possibility of Hil-Dog and Obama on the card i decided it was time to get my one of the infamous "black rifles"!!!

It is a Rock River Arms Ar-15 223 Coyote rig. It has a 20" chrome lined 1-9" twist bbl and skelton stock with overmolded Hogue pistol and forearm grips. It is wearing a Leupold Mk4 M3 3.5-10x40mm Mil Dot scope in PRW rings.

I am starting painting her tonite and i figured i would make this a running thread and show the stages. I am doing a 3 or 4 color snake skin pattern. tonite will be a base color of german grey.

here is the rifle naked

gun porn is correct........

Pressures of the candidates or lack of will necessitate adopting an Magpul or what ever Bushmaster is calling it or a Sig into the family.

Will look forward to you paint scheme.

round 2

okay i got this done last nite, this is a base layer of German Gray. you can see a little bit of the snake skin pattern and where it is a solid color i will later use as the under layer of snake skin for the next color, there will be very little of the grey showing when i am done,

heres the pics

WWII OD Green tommorrow nite and wood land brown this weekend.

Looking good,

If you're using Duracoat the coats are suppose to be put on within hours of each other. I did that same thing your doing in nightly step and the second coat wouldn't stick to the first. I talk to them about it and it has something to do chemically with the way it bonds to its self. The second and third coat got brittle and chipped off easily. But if it works it will be as tuff as nails.

VERY BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

Huh, well this is the way i have done a couple of them and they all worked pretty good so far, i guess we will just have to see. that does make sense though. i havent really had any problem with any of it chipping off on any guns so far as long as where it was sprayed had at least some texture. i couldnt get it to stick to a mirror polished bolt.

thanks
steve

Yeah if it fits wear it.I tryed everything in the book to get it right on a rifle I have but I never worked.and after testing and testing and talking to them about whats going wrong.I did everything they told me to do to get it to stick. well it will be sent to them at the end of the month for them to do.I really enjoyed useing it and on a knife i did with it I can beat the stuff off it but my rifle man it wasn't haveing it.

But your 15 dose look very good so far.

I'm going to do a write up when I get my gun back from gettting new skin so i'll post it here if noone jumps up and down about it.
