Dual dovetails. Lapping or not?

I just got a SWFA super sniper 12x, and set of Leupold dual dovetail mounts and bases. Do these need to be lapped? And if so, whats a way to lap them without an actual lapping kit?

Yes, they need to be lapped. They should also be carefully aligned. I recommend that you buy or borrow a kit. Turn the alignment bars around so that the flat ends face each other, and then use a feeler gauge. Or, use the pointy ends but move the points to the front ring and check alignment, then to the back ring and check again.
