i'm hoping this can be done as i do have a great piece of land to build it on, well soon have. building an indoor 1 mile range is possible with a width of 100-150' of clear span the full length. going 2 miles would be sweet, but would need a clear height of 250-300' depending on ballistics? i would build it because i can and would hold an indoor competition. wind calls would be a "no brainer". 1 big problem is where i live there's only 1 person in my home town that shoots that far (which really isn't a problem), it's the "who would come to use it"? maybe i'm figuring the wrong height needed for that distance for 338lm to 50bmg type firearms? the full length wouldn't need to be 250-300', only the middle 1/2 mile?

How in the world do you plan to do this?? Did you buy a property that has an old tunnel road through a mountain? 😳
I'll use scrapers and go between hills, then baracade the sides. Clear span 100-150' width every 25'. Concrete deep enough to hold the width. Really it's an easy build, just time consuming. Well costly also, but I'll check supply cost as I've built buildings before. I have 6 kids to help of my own.

If you build it, they will come!

I love the idea and I'd definitely go there if it were within a reasonable travel time. Have you looked into regulations to get the range certified by any local agencies that might be involved?

So you are going to have a roof over it? Does the roof need to be rigid or can you pull heavy fabric over a frame with motors as needed? BTW there is a significant difference in trajectory between 1500 yds and 1760 yds, is 1 mile really required?
