Don't recommend 53gr V-maxs

Every Prairie Dog I shot with 53gr V-Max out of a 22-250 ,sadly blew up, guts and red mist every where !

Oh, that's terrible. They're not much good for Prairie Dog stew when they're that badly damaged.

Is this another report of "bullet failure" where the target animal still mysteriously dies?

I've had the same problem. I usually go with 52 A-Max but the bullet shut down forced me to go the 53grV. I'm going out tomorrow and see if I can tell which one does a better job.
Called the rancher and the dogs are blossoming everywhere. They need my help.

Actually they're nearly vaporized ! Seriously love the pop sound when they're hit

POP goes the p-dog. Well I tried, When I hit, it was dead dog. No matter which bullet I used. We shut down early because of heat mirage.

I tried some 50grn Zmax recently as I could not find anything in the vmax. They work just as well. They terminate dogs extremely well. Going back out this weekend again, cant wait for Friday to get here.

The 53gr Vmax is my favorite p-dog bullet in my 1:10 twist 22-250. It's a sure hit out to 600 yds. Getting barrel time node 2 at 3930 fps from my 28" Shilen.

Oh do I miss shooting those little guys. I learned a valuable lesson in barrel cool down from those things. Heat bulged a perfectly good barrel. Went from a .222 to a .223 and I gotta tell you, the .222 shot better. I loved that little round.
