Does anyone still make 6.5-284 brass and bullets?

Hello all. Brand spanking new member here. I just ordered a 6.5-284 rifle, primarily for hunting and long range target shooting for fun, and have been surfing on line with the intent of starting to order the necessary components so I'd be ready to go when the rifle arrived (in about a year). However, I was surprised to find that website after website lists the brass out of stock (I've been primarily looking for Lapua) and the bullets (6.5 140 grain VLD) out of stock. Couldn't find anyone that had it. Are the brass and bullets that hard to come by? Is production seasonal and I'm just looking at the wrong time of the year? Has everyone given up on 6.5-284 and I just ordered an obsolete rifle (I doubt it, but sure seems like it.) Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don't worry, not obsolete and components typically aren't hard to find. With Obama's gun control attempts, many components including powder, primers, brass and bullets are hard to find. It will pass and get back to normal at some point in time....

Hey Ted, welcome to LRH!! Components are hard to come by right now because everyone is buying everything they can get their hands on. If you keep an eye on the classifieds here and on accurateshooter.com you should come across some Lapua 6.5x284 brass, but you better be quick cause they go fast!! You might find some 140 vlds but..... you might need a little luck!gun)

Thanks for the responses. I, like the rest of us, have been dealing with the ammo and components shortage (a brick of .22 costs that much?!?!?). For whatever reason I never thought about that with regards to these components- I just assumed they were oddball enough that they would be unaffected by all the crazyness. At least I have a year to gather everything.

Thanks,
Ted
