Does anyone run a custom 270 win?

I had a 1978 Rem 700 That I put a 1:8 26" twist Hart on it, McMillan stock. It shot the 165gr Matrix at about 2750 or so with H4831. Never used much else. It would do well out to 1000 yards on steel. Never put it on game. Definitely a solid shooter with those heavy pills.

Sold it and went to a 300 WM.

Been toying around with building a 270 win with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist? Has anyone done this? If so how do you like it?

Not .270 Win but I have .270 with Lilja 30" 1:8" 3G specifically built to propel 165/175 Matrix. My current accuracy load is propelling the 175 Matrix at 2993 FPS with H4831SC. I really like mine and it's .5-.75 MOA at 1K if I do my part.

Here's an excellent LRH article on .270 Win >>> https://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/270-win-for-long-range-shooting.580/

Long story short I went down a rabbit hole that started with just trying to shoot a bunch of old 150 grain bullets in my 270 win and stumbled onto the new at the time Reloder 26 that showed reloading data of over 3000 fps. Well I got the velocity and more but couldn't get a pattern under 2 to 3 inches with the Nosler 150 accubond long range bullets. Started doing the math on twist rate stability and it came out at needing at least 1:8.5. Decided to bite the bullet and bought a Proof Research Carbon barrel in 1:8 and 26" and chambered in 270 AI. I haven't hunted with it yet just got it back this spring and threw it in a new McMillan stock, haven't even bedded it yet and it's shooting .325 MOA with Fireforming loads at 3200 fps per the chronograph.
Here's the target I shot on the first time shooting at a target. The first shot I wasn't quite ready yet (new light Timney trigger), the 2nd shot I wasn't loaded on the bipod right, the 3rd through 6th were nice shots with the same bipod hold, measured .325" at widest spread. So far it's been everything I hoped it would be and more!

What reamer did you use for the Lilja barrel. I was just talking to Carson about doing a 270 with a 1:8 or 1:9 twist. He doesn't cut the 270 chamber just the barrel.

I don't have a 270 win but I do have a custom 270 wsm 26" barrel. That shoots the 165 matrix at 3000 FPS. And the 126 hammers at 3450fps. We have killed big horn sheep at 704yards with the 165matrix and a few deer closer. and elk at 450yards with the 126hammers.
I also prefer the WSM and have had very good results with it!

I never said Carson or Lilja did the chambering, it is not a service they currently provide. I am not sure what reamer, my gunsmith did the chambering. Carson Lilja helped me with my order. I have received excellent customer service from Carson and Dan.

I built a custom 270 WIN with a 24 inch magnum weight lilja with the standard 1-10 twist. With very little effort had it shooting 140gr Bergers into .33 groups. Works great out tp 1000 yards.
