Has anyone tried H1000 with 80gr + bullets? In the 22-250ai.
We seem to have decent luck using 50 grain tnt’s in 22-250’s!!!coyotes, 60g Bergers open them up like a can opener!
Shhhhhh even works on deer??????? 2 different 22-250’s same bullet! 22 creed seems to stop the older winter coyotes a tad quicker with 73-85 grain bullets but the 22-250 seems more magical on deer.We seem to have decent luck using 50 grain tnt’s in 22-250’s!!!
I’ve never gotten any heavier than 55 in my 22-250’s. I loaded some pretty stout 55 grain Sierra game king bthp’s on top of imr 3031 for my brother. He did txt me askin what the load was as he said it flattened a coyote but I’m not sure how far or where impact was on it.Anyone use the 60g V max in a 22/250? I have not tried those.
I used those two flat based 55 grain Sierra bullets from the early 1980s into the 90s out of my 22-250. They were deadly on foxes and many hundreds of big eastern groundhogs. They still don’t give up too much to the “modern bullets” until you get out past 400 yards. I started with H380 and IMR 4895 pushing them around 3650 then went to WW760 and that got me a little over 3700 fps out of the 24” barrel. We hunted coyotes in Mexico years ago with 55g Sierra flat base spt, results were always great with loads of 38-39.2g of H380.
A hunting buddy used IMR and H4895 along with IMR 4064 with the 55g Sierra flat base spt.
It is interesting to note that in a 14Twist, the 55g Sierra lead tip blitz just about shoots a coyote in half at 3550 fps, tremendous damage with never a surface splash.
The 60g Bergers with IMR 4350 proved to be a tremendous killing bullet with a velocity of around 3500 fps.
How bullets kill on quartering shots, coming and going on coyotes seems to define a bullet, especially at 250 to 350 yards where a lot of loads just seem to fail to keep them on the ground.
Was on a deer hunt in SC a few years ago and one guy used his 22-250. Deer were bang flop. I just wish I asked him more on loads he used.Shhhhhh even works on deer??????? 2 different 22-250’s same bullet! 22 creed seems to stop the older winter coyotes a tad quicker with 73-85 grain bullets but the 22-250 seems more magical on deer.
Same here Gary. Then I went to AA2700 which burns even cooler than 760, and even shot 2700 in the 243, AI, 6 Rem AI, and 22/250 AI.I used those two flat based 55 grain Sierra bullets from the early 1980s into the 90s out of my 22-250.
