Does anyone hunt with 22-250 anymore?

I've been surprised at how well the light barreled Tikka T3 8 twisted 22-250 shoots on paper.
Took it out this morning with some 55 grain Sierra Blitz Kings.

.22-250 is great for everything from 'chucks and p-dogs to coyotes to average-sized whitetails. I would feel confident using it on speed goats at decent ranges, say, less than 300 yds. Never underestimate a 55 gr. NBT at nearly 4200 fps.

Last speed goat I shot was a buck, 430 yards using a Rem 788 with a 55g Winchester Soft point, 26.5g of Win 748, and he flopped at the shot, MV of this load in this worn barrel was 3050 fps, still shooting 1/2" groups.

For you big-game guys with 22's, you should look into the 22-243 AI where the 80g Hornady gets the job done in spades at 3500 fps....distance shots.

Those bullets seem to be available

For prairie dogs, woodchucks, fox and coyote I use these .17HMR, .22LR, .22 Magnum, .22 Hornet, .222, .223, 22-250, .243. My .222 is a blast and is scary accurate. my 22-250 is my favorite for longer range. My .22 Hornet is my favorite for 150 yards or less. The .243 I save for those days in Nebraska and Iowa when the wind is howling. My 22-250 is a Remington 700VSSF. 6-24 Bausch & Lomb scope. Cryo treated barrel, action blueprinted and trued. A few other tweaks also. When I manage to shoot it out, I'll be keeping it in the same caliber. Maybe I'm weird, but other than some military and cowboy calibers, I seldom have more than one gun in the same caliber. I don't tend to go crazy for new calibers. I'd still like a .204 Ruger. Heck, the only reason I have a .17HMR is all the written reports when it was introduced. I was resisting with little difficulty. The CZ452 was new and I was resisting that. Then CZ offered a full, Mannlicher style stock in .17HMR. As soon as I read about it, I ordered it. That's rare for me. Sure glad I did. If I bought another 22-250, it would have to have fantastic wood!!!

Savage Model 12 BVVS with heavy laminate wood, is a rock-solid shooter, replacement Stainless barrels from URBANRIFLEMAN shoot tiny groups. I shoot Remingtons and custom actions, but the accuracy of these savages is amazing.
I just had him do a 22-250 8 twist barrel for me, I had a savvy model 10 laying around that I didn't know what to do with. I'm beginning load work up now with 75 grain Berger VLDs.

Gary, we would love to hear your results!
Keith,
Well, I only have had it to the range twice, Been cutting grass and planting the garden. LOL.
I really wanted to get it shooting with VV160 because I have quite a bit left from my 6mmai.
As you can see, I still have some work to do, the wind was coming in gusts and I really wanted to shoot even though my wind flags were left home in the garage. I'm sure it will do better once I get the bugs worked out of it. Couldn't stand the ugly black factory stock, maybe I made it uglier. LOL
