Does anyone else think RL17 smells like coconut?

I did buy two fresh pounds today and got in the truck and looked around and unscrewed the lid and sniiiifffffff....... I not smellin coconut, but can't quite put my finger on it. It is real different.

Can-A-Chrony works for me. I wonder if mtelkhntr smelled any coconut when he was in the can measuring fps (I think I'd go with tps) and the insueing expansion rate on the porcelin.

It's definitely some potent stuff! With all this talk I had to go open a can and almost passed out!

Kinda a mixture of Castor Oil, Prune Juice and Wild Turkey 101. So I can definitely believe the need for a Can-a-Chrony!

Anyway, it's definitely showing some promise in my 30-06

no pressure signs so I'm gonna keep going to see if I can hit 2700 fps and call it quits

well i have tried the RL17 in my 243 Super Rock Chucker and am very impressed. I am getting 3500fps with a 95 grain Berger Bullet. I am hooked on the stuff

Woods what is the barrel length on your 30-06? I'm pushing a 208gr A-max to 2610 in my .308 win. I do have a 28" 1-11tw hart barrel however. Will try lapua brass because I think it can take more pressure safely.

Good luck,
Oliver

Heavy ether smell. Retumbo has similarly strong smells.

I'll tell you what 43.4gr smell like in my 260. 2950fps and 129SST. .5MOA as well. Loaded to fit the mag.

It is a stock Steyr Forester so I'm thinking it is around 24" but probably measured in metric. Got me wondering. I will take a tape to it next time it comes out of the safe.

Update

BULLET / WEIGHT / BC / OAL / COMPARATOR / POWDER / CHARGE / FPS

ACCU / 200 / 0.588 / 3.365 / 3.750 / RL17 / 54.5 / 2713

ACCU / 200 / 0.588 / 3.365 / 3.750 / RL17 / 55.5 / 2758

No pressure signs: sticky bolt lift, brass flow on case head

Will find out about primer pockets in a couple of days when I reload the cases.
