A car moving on a straight path covers a distance of 1km due east in 100s. What is (i) the speed and (ii) the velocity of car?

Given: d=1km = 1000m, t=100s

(i) \begin{array}{l} \text { Speed }=\frac{\text { distance }}{\text { time }} \\ =\frac{1000}{100}=10 \mathrm{ms}^{-1} \end{array}

(ii) The velocity of the car is the same as speed in magnitude along with direction, hence velocity = 10 ms-1 due east
