is a "standard" suppressor the best option for suppressing subsonic rounds?

I was wondering what the consensus is on suppressors for subsonic rounds, in particular for the .458 socom.

It seems there are a few dedicated suppressors for subsonic .45 cal rounds, and maybe they are deemed to do a better job than a normal suppressor designed for supersonic ammunition.

Does anyone here have experience with this?

While you're shopping you need to pick a suppressor that is rated for the pressure of 458 socom. Most pistol caliber suppressors are rated for 45 acp & I am sure that there is substantial difference in pressures between the above mentioned cilibers. I have only played with 9mm subsonics so & I run a pistol caliber suppressor with those. Also use that same can on my 17hmr cause it's significantly quieter & still rated for the pressures of 17hmr. Hope this helps you get headed in the right direction……

I know there are a few different designs for baffles--- I have heard that subsonic respond differently than supers based on design--- but iirc-- the differences are only in the 4-5dB range.
