I recently bought a Defiance anTi and a prefit barrel (barrel manufacturer to remain nameless).

I installed the barrel, and bolt will not close. I called the barrel manufacturer and was told that the Defiance actions were not within tolerance.

I am curious if anyone else has any first-hand experience with this.

Yes, and this example was brought to my attention by a barrel manufacturer when I asked if they would make shouldered prefits.

I have a Defiance Anti-X but not with a pre-fit barrel.

I was trying my best to word this without bashing any company. Everyone has their "favorite", and if I named the barrel manufacturer, every person that likes Defiance but prefers a different barrel, would immediately blame the barrel. That is why I asked if anyone has First hand experience.

The barrel maker claimed they had multiple Defiance actions recently with only a couple being within tolerance. I feel like, if this were true, I would have already seen it posted somewhere.

My trust, based on reputation alone, is in Defiance.

I have a good shooting buddy that bought a pre-fit...and it didn't. Fit that is. They returned it and sent another...same thing.

Which one was out of spec? The action or the barrel?

The gunsmith he took it to for assistance took a barrel that had just come off another Defiance that he had cut and chambered and it threaded right on and chambered a piece of brass fine.
I was there at the time of this second barrel issue. So that leads me to believe it was the barrel. But I didn't do any of the measuring.

My gut is telling me that this is the case here. I was merely trying to substantiate (or discredit) their claim with other's experience.

I have had the barrel for a couple weeks now but just put it all together this week. Their claim of multiple "out of spec" actions was supposedly from last week. Also said they were going to remove the Defiance from their prefit options.

They said I would need to send action and barrel to them. I am not interested in doing that. I bought this action for the option of installing barrels myself.

I bought a anti and a proof barrel they fit just fineat least as far as go nogo gauges tell you.

I'm on my second Proof competition countour 6 creedmoor prefit barrel on my Ruckus. The brass in both are close enough to use back and forth. Those two are the only two I have prefit experience with.
