Defiance action screws?

I’m trying to mount a defiance anti LA to a XLR chassis. I need to purchase action screws. I can’t find anything local and would prefer not to order them if I could pick them up at Ace Hardware. Does anybody know the thread pitch and length that I need for that combination?

Are they a rem700 clone? If so most likely they'll have the same threads? Try a 1/4x28 if you have 1 lying around? I don't own any Rem's or clones.

Not sure of length for chassis, but I have used stainless steel 1/4-28 scs (socket cap screw) in a recent build. Got 1 - 1" long and 1 - 1-1/2" long, ground off minimal amount from each as needed.

I accidentally cut one a tad too short when installing pillars, they mailed me a set for free and it took like 3 days

1/4-28 get 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 and trim to length. Typically The front is 1 inch in length ace typically carries them. Its where i get mine

You will need internal Hex head screws to properly fit the chassis.

What cartridge did you decide on for your build?

I went with the torx head from a hardware store. Lowes and home depot both carry these items.

Be careful with SS screws in a SS action. SS on SS will cold weld (ie, gall) and cause you a ton of grief. If the action body is SS then I'd use steel screws to lock it down to avoid cold welding them together.

Anti-seize lubricant will help prevent galling. I use them on screws, muzzle devices, and barrels.

There is no reason to avoid ordering online, get over your hesitation and get it done. DIY grinding a pair is a waste of time for the $4.00 and shipping.
