I am trying to work up a good deer load for my 243AI, I have a savage 12BVSS-S that has been trued and glass bed in a shehane tracker stock, the barrel is a 27" 1/8 duglass from sharp shooters supply and it has a 6.5X20 LR leupold. I have tried a few loads but nothing better than .700 and I really think the gun can do better. Please help!!
I have 95NBTs,105Amax,107,seirra's,90 swift scirocco's and some 105 bergers.
oh one more thing, with the 105's and 107's should I be seating them into the lands? seems that I read that somewhere but not sure

thanks
Jared

Do you have a tight neck??
What Barrel?
I would start with the Berger 105's or the Seirra 107's and 47gr of RL-25 and work your way up.

My pet load is 50.0gr RL-25 Lupua Brass Fed 210M Clinch River 106's out of the 29" Lilja 3 groove at 3340fps View Crono Slip

Jared- What barrel what twist what powder, brass and primer?? What range you shooting at 100? If 100yds I would try 200yds because those big bullets don't fully become stable to about 150yds and some times more.

I found that the big 6mm bullets shoot better on the lands.
When I start playing around with a new barrel I rarely play with seating depth. All my 243 Imp. barrels are cut with the same chamber reamer that Dave Manson ground to my specs. Basicly the reamer is throated to shoot only the big VLD bullets and a .271NK

I found that you only gain a few FPS from seating the bullets on the lands and a bit more pressure. ALWAYS take into consideration all load combinations are different. At this present time I been shooting Lilja 3 groove barrels which are a .237 .243 land groove combination and been having good luck with them. I was shooting a Krieger in the spring it was a .236 .243 land groove combination and 4 groove. With the .001 smaller Krieger bore I have to load 1.5 grains less powder compared to the Lilja to get the same velocity as the Lilja 3 groove.
