Hey guys, I've been looking at the Cutting Edge MTAC and MTH bullet lines in 375 cal, and loosely following the discussions on twist rates. Are gain twist barrels really necessary? Would a lower bearing surface compression (5R or 6 groove rifling) allow constant twist barrels to be acceptably utilized? A faster than conventional twist would probably need to be used, but would a 7.5 or 8 twist be enough to run the 350gr and up range of the CE 375 cals in a 375 Snipetac or similar?

I am running the MTH 350gr at 3250fps in a 1 in 10 twist Bartlein 5R and the gun loves them. Very consistent as I had one 3 shot group with an ES of 1.7fps.

Wow, that's great frank! Any game use or just targets? Also curious as to any BC data you may have. The CEB 350s are listed at .890 G1 that's a pretty good step up from the 350SMK with reports of .8-.820 G1.

I have benchmark 10 twist give chris a call if you want to shoot heavier that 375gr bullets they have 8 twist barrels aswell.

Cheers Bill

No animals yet other than 2 wood chucks at 800-900 yds. BC is listed at .890-.920. I use .920 and it works with shooter out to 1500 yds so far. Impressive on steel targets at 1000yds (same energy as 338 Lapua at muzzle). Does not go subsonic until 2500yds.
