Critique my Threading and Chambering - Video

They must have changed the bolt nose because mine looks like a Remington bolt nose. They did send me a replacement bolt about a month after I bought it with a relocated ejector. Your bolt know looks way better than the new ones too. My last message lost some words. It should read I do all my remingtons like this now.

On a remington 700 I go about half the way down the counter bore. About .075 down and then 30 degree it. Still gives about .075 of the ring of steel around the nose.

Have you tried different angles for feeding? I am curious what the best is to aid in smooth buttery feeding

I just use 30 because all the custom br actions seem too and the tool post is already at 30 for threading. Just makes things easier. Is there a better angle, maybe but I haven't tried.

Make sense. I'll try it on my switchbarrel 6.5br KLR barrel. It doesn't feed as well as I'd like with those stubby little guys

My friends Savage 6br catches the bullet tip every time unless you push it up in the chamber with your fingers. But the bolt design doesn't have any leeway for putting a 30 on it. He just has to deal with it.

So your saying your bolt has a step like a Remington and the front of the bolt lugs aren't tapered?

I'll look at it again tomorrow. That is the ugly bolt handle mine came with. I'm going to turn it down to a teardrop.

You were right it is coned. I've never done a coned bolt that had a step on the shank. They all have had a full 30 degree.

Have you guys ever taken the front of the boltface and put an angle on it? Aka, made a rem a cone?

It sure looks nice with the new barrel.
Coned bolt and all.

I just walked down to the shop and came out to a freaking blizzard in my flip flops. Went in the shop for five minutes came back out it was a whiteout with an inch on the ground.
I would think to do a real coned bolt nose on a remington you would need to add metal to the nose. The .150 protrusion.
