Coyote Scope on .22

I can't agree more with the above posts! I currently shoot a lot of 22lr since purchasing my vudoo and consistently hit 8 out of 10 rounds or better on an 8" gong at 300 yards and still wouldn't attempt taking a coyote past 100 with a 22lr and still that's an if. I also shoot 17 and would maybe do 150 but past that I'm out again.

for 300 yards, 204, 223, 22-250 would be much better

For the ultimate 22cal coyote gun P O Ackley designed the .22 EARGESPLITTEN LOUDENBOOMER. PO used a 378 Weatherby case for his Ultimate 22cal varmint round. He was trying to achieve 5000fps, but could only manage 4600fps w/50gr bullets. l think he was using 110gr H570... The 223WSSM is a speedy thought. Winchester brought their 220swift out in 1935. Still pretty quick after almost a century @4100fps

I shot the old blue coated 40g Barnes VLCs in my 26" barreled 220 swift at 4400fps. They were not very good on coyotes really, the bullet pretty much just disintegrated on impact, had a lot of runners. The 55g NBT at 3950fps solved those issues. Nice 2" exits everytime and the dogs folded on the spot, even when bone was hit. That 22-378 is ridiculous, I wouldnt even waste my time with something like that...
