COW fire forming

Do I need to use pistol primers when fire forming using bullseye and COW? I am forming 300wm brass for a chamber that is a bit long. I have necked them up to 338 and then necked them back down so they just chamber.

Nope, rifle is just fine. ive used every rifle primer that I can stuff in a large or small rifle pocket, including mag types of every domestic mfg. Whatever is cheapest, or I have left over from other projects lights some hodgen titewad to make the cow fly!
