This will be my first trip to Colorado elk hunt second rifle season any help would be Greatly appreciate it

Depends on the weather. Id start up near Divide Road and work my way down. Unless you get a bunch of snow, they'll be up high and there are a lot of springs up there for water to keep an eye out for.

If the weather is mild then hunt the higher elevations near Divide road as another responder indicated. Be prepared to see a lot of road traffic on the Divide road & the forest service roads. But if you study some maps and look for some heavy timber with some open parks that require a 1/2 mile to mile walk from any forest service road or trail - you should lose most of the road hunters. Our party has hunted there twice over the years and had some success & some missed some opportunities there. Some good bulls, great country, but just be prepared to see plenty of hunters.

Not sure what is available at this time, but a cow tag would be a good idea for at least one or two members of your party. A bear tag at the newer reduced price would work if season is still open & weather warm. There is a very good bear population in unit 62 & we saw a dandy there the last time we elk hunted that unit.
