Doing my first hunt in this unit 1st and possibly 2nd rifle. Me and a buddy are going at it alone and are both first timers. I've been out scouting a few times and I've searched a lot on the net for info. Most people say if you put in distance you'll find the elk. Saw a few a couple of weeks ago and found a good game trail but I'm kind of disappointed in todays results. I'm not looking for your secret spot but anyone care to offer up a little more advice? I put in 15 miles today. Saw a LOT of bear sign, but not much for elk. A few bedding areas that looked to be a couple days old. Message or email me if you don't want to post publicly. I'm hunting with a buddy (who is new also) who has access to all the GIS map information you could imagine for the area. Maybe we can work out a trade.
