Went to the range to play with bullet seating today. Loaded up 4 sets of 3 at .051" difference. From max length to shortest went from : 3.658", 3.607", 3.556", and 3.505". This is all measured to the tip as I don't have a comparator at this time. The 3.658" gave me a group spread of 3.7". The 3.505" gave me a group spread of 2.504". The 3.556" gave me a group spread of 1.61". The best group was the 3.607" length with a barely sub MOA 3 shot group of .97" This is out of a factory Remington 700 sps stainless 300 win mag. I think with more tweaking with the bullet and a far better stock the groups with shrink even more. I was surprised I shot a group that good seeing how Remington has no bedding block; just all plastic with out a free floated barrel. Load: 2nd shot win brass with neck sizing only, 73.5g H1000, fed mag primer, and a good ole berger 230 tactical.

It seems like the rifle has some potential. A friend of mine has a Rem 700 in 300 RUM. It shot about like your Win Mag. Then he had it bedded in a nice stock and it got way better (like 0.75 inch 3-shot groups at 200 yards) so it is worth considering.

Yeah thats the best group this rifle has ever shot at 100yds. May even move the bullet around + - .005" Im going to try and go back to the range this weekend to verify that it actually shooting that good in a 5 shot group. Sucky thing is that its just such a light gun it pushes me around on the bench. Out hunting I never notice anything.... lol but my mind is on the harvest and not the gun.
