Hey there I'm haivng issues getting my Christensen ridgeline 300rum to group well. I've tried r26, and retumbo so far with with 215 Berger and 212 eldx. I hadn't been having any luck so I started from scratch today and tried the ocw method. Now out of 5 groups 4 of them would would have 2 rounds touching and the 3rd about an inch away.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks

There is not a lot of data on those targets and even less in your post. Give us more information. If you held a gun to my head and made me tell you what step to take next I would say the two with two touching need seating depth adjustments.

Ok pic one is
215 Berger
Norma brass
Cci 250 primer
88gr retumbo
2.895 off zeroed comparator

2 is same but
88.8gr retumbo

3 top is same but
89.8 gr retumbo

3buttom is
212eld
Norma brass
Cci 250
92.3gr retumbo
2.970 off zeroed comparator.

Previously I had shot 90.5, 91.4, 92.3 retumbo over eldx with not very good luck.

Waited 2 min before each shot and it's 35* out and I did the round robin method of shooting order

Possible barrel heating up if shot back to back. If so try letting the barrel cool down between shoots

I waited till the barrel was hardly warm to the touch, how long do carbon barrels typically Take to cool?

Make sure everything is tight and take the load as far out as you can and see if it holds thesame pattern.

Steve

How long should I take it too and what will I be looking for? Thanks

Ok, if I am understanding you correctly the two groups with two in the same hole with one flyer are 88.0 and 88.8 retumbo and 215 Bergers at the same seating depth? If that is correct that looks like a small but successful OCW. The groups impact the target at the same poi. now you need to do seating depth testing in .010 increments. You did not say where you started but I would do at the lands .010, .020, .030, .040 off. at 88.4 retumbo and report back. I suspect you will have a .5moa load.

Was just looking at my rifle and I think I found part of the problem

They are Leupold pwr rings? Is that fairly common for these? I've always had decent look with them on smaller rifles. I'm just confused cause the rifle really doesn't thump at all with that brake, and the rings were torqued to spec at the shop I bought it from

Lightweight heavy recoiling rifles with heavy scopes are hell on scope attachments. It is even worse with a brake. High quality rails and rings are the only way to go. In my opinion Talley and Leopold are junk unless you have a mild recoiling rifle with a lightweight scope. I have learned the hard way.
