I'm looking to make a change from my Horus 59 reticle back to a simplistic mil based X/Y axis reticle.

My Burris XTR 2 had the SCR something or other simple reticle, but still wanted a bit more mag and thicker reticle which is how I ended up with the Bushnell XRS 2. The Sightron SVIII 5-40 with LRM seems to punch all the buttons, but quite frankly I don't keep up with all the latest greatest scope of the year kind of updates. Pretty sure you guys can cut to the chase quickly on what else I may want to look at. Weight is no matter it's a bench rest ELR rifle that gets carted from truck to firing line in a cart.....a 1 trick pony.

Thanks for any insights into what else I may want to consider.

30x or more
Mil based non-tree reticle
.2 hash graduations
....and I can definitely say March is out of my price range that I DO know

Nightforce Mil-C maybe? NX8 4-32.

Sorry, I only have scope specs recorded that have a min. parallax of 15/10y.
But this is what I found:

▪ Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 MIL-C F1 reticle = 2150$

▪ Falcon (UK+China) S30 5-30x56 FFP Gen. 1 = $400

▪ Vector Taurus 5-30x56 FFP = $450
(does not have thick reticle outside posts)

▪ MTC Viper and Viper Pro 5-30x50 FFP = $550
MOA turrets vs. MIL reticle
The glass has been declared by many as underwhelming

Happy scope shopping. 😊

I have a friend with a Sightron on a 28 Nosler. He loves it. Not sure of the model.
I have a Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x56 on my bench gun. Best scope I've ever owned.

LOVE the Golden Eagle if it were in mils I'd already own it. All my buddies are mil....wind calls....I could do MOA no issue if it were just me, but mixing....even though it would be an ideal fit with the limited elevation range I'd still own one. Thanks for the info on the Sightron.....continuing to search for used if I can.

Well all I can say after owning my Sightron SVIII for a few weeks is I wish I'd of done it long ago. 2 trips and in love with it wish I'd of done it long ago.

Glad you like it 👍

Did you get the MH-6 or LRM reticle? Both look good to me, but I like the look for the MH-6 for a simplified tree. I'm guessing you did the LRM though based on your first post.

LRM for me just love it. The clarity on 40x is amazing ,but when I backed it off to about 35x in midday FL mirage 90+ degrees super humid soup my buddy with 7-35 ATACR was speechless. The mirage all but disappears which is nice for seeing paint chips, but I don't want the mirage to be gone b/c it's such a valuable wind read component.

At 7:59 I was on the line waiting b/f the mirage kicked in. Right now we get about 30 minutes at sunrise b/f the soup lays in on us. We didn't get a chance to put our camera down range and not being sure I could hear an impact at 1,998 yards I put a sighter round in the berm it was .2 high and .2 right smidge too much wind hold. Corrected and actually saw my impact paint chip perfect elevation and 9 o'clock ~ .1 just outside of 12" painted bullseye. Have never seen impact with rifle glass at that range(occasionally on some premium spotting scopes).
