Finally took the plunge and ordered a suppressor… Ultra 7. All my hunting rigs carry 26 in barrels. And like most things spending a dollars leads to another dollar or two. A mid- length lone peak razor Ti should be here in about a week. I hate giving up velocity or BC but want a more handy 20-22" build for all round hunting with a suppressor… I know the 7mm SAUM has a good reputation for producing velocity in shorter barrels. Considering 7 SAUM, 7 Mega, 300 WSM and 300 Mega… any thoughts or real velocities out of those lengths would be appreciated

7 SAUM or 7 WSM would be a good fit, even 6.5 PRC/SAUM.

Knock 50-100 FPS off published data from 24'' book velocities. If you plan to hunt deep I would stick to the 7 over short 30's - you'll be happier with felt recoil and retained velocity at extended range.

Once you've got this shorty together you'll be HOOKED!!!

I run 18" 6.5 prc 2926 fps.. target with red circle is three shots at 200 yards. 8713E779-58E9-421D-967C-13D5C0765D70.jpegBBF79700-3EEF-430A-8B40-65B87EBC0C19.jpeg

Tikka action
bolt was lighten up
barrel is Oregon barrel
rexsilentium suppressor
apline stock

berger 135 hunter Classic
nosler brass
federal large rifle primers
reloader 26 powder

All good choices. The short fat cases seem effective enough to give the best blend of performance. I run a 18 and 22" prc and have 20" creed. I also run a 11" tc 6 creed pistol. I tend to grab my prc above anything else as my go to. It's just s super fun rifle to shoot and with the 18" I run 135 a tips at 3000. 143 at 2925. For me I'd likely not go above a 7mm.

I'm thinking of a build very similar to this. I'm thinking a 22" barrel. Probably be a 6.5ss or maybe saum. Would like to see 2900 plus with 140s. Might even try some lighter hammer bullets.

Easy. My prc in a 22" is 3050 with a 143.

I just built an 18" barreled 7-300 wsm 45 degree improved that I'm running suppressed.
I settled on the 175 eldx at 2800, 180 bergers produced the same velocity.
I've been shooting it out to 1300 yards and am totally in love with the setup
Honestly the only reason to wildcat the 300 wsm is for ADG brass, it won't do anything that a custom throated 7 wsm will do.

My wife's rifle is a 16" 6.5 saum, it's sending 144 Bergers at 2925.
It impressed me so much that I got another tikka action and built myself the shorty 7-300 wsm improved

I run a 20" proof barreled 7 SAUM. The ONLY thing I don't love about it is finding brass. Other than that here are my velocities after 100 or so rounds of break in.

168 Berger - 2895 fps with h1000
160 Partition - 2950 fps (factory rem load)
143 Hammer Hunter - 3050 fps (h4350)

All loads with ADG brass and a grain lower than the first sign of pressure. I also run a tbac ultra 7 as well and it is a sweet little rifle. The problem with the SAUMs is now I own a 6.5 as well…….

All the pieces and parts are in…mesa, lone peak mid, Hawkins hunter, bix n andy, carbon six will finish 21". Can is a few month out… was figuring on a 7 SAUM but no joy on brass for months now… so may sort hornady brass and go 7WSM… Manners LRH mid on order… maybe give up and order a 6.5 barrel and do a PRC… but then I'd really want to get my hand on 156 Bergers… decision. decisions

I would suggest looking at a 7 Sherman max, it's just a 7 saum improved 40°, and proper headstamped ADG 7 max brass (already with the 40° shoulder, no fireforming needed) is in stock at the Sherman wildcat site. So are the dies.

Using H1000 I'm running 170 PVA cayuga's (monolithic pills) at 2835 from my wife's 20" Krieger, and I'm not pushing it. My father in law's 7 max I helped him put together also has a 20" Proof barrel, which are known to be somewhat slow, only has 15 rounds down it (not broke in yet) and so far looks like it will be running the 180 Berger Hybrids about 2750 with N565, and a fair bit below pressure signs. I'm not sure how much it will speed up, but even if it doesn't, that will still do the job. Just a consideration.
