Cfe223 and 308 Win ?

T
No I didn't chronograph those loads, but I will.I doubt any of the loads will make 2800fps.Probably in the low to mid 2700's.I use magnum primers in my rifles 30-06 and up so I wanted to try the 308 with them. Also ball powders are usually more accurate with magnum primers.

You are correct sir about ball powders and magnum primers
But this powder is not like BLc2 or 748 or H322 .
This powder is very hot, high energy powder ,mag primers are not required. Be Careful with this powder friend.
I also noticed I was reaching max way before Hodgdon website data.

I know this isn't really what the OP is looking for, but I am experimenting with CFE223 in my 308 with some leftover (about 300) 200 gr eldx I have on hand. Max load is 44 gr in Win case and 210 primer. Gives 2600 fps out of a 24" Savage. Will probably be looking somewhere around 42 gr for accuracy.

You might need check your rate of twist of your barrel that is a long bullet you will need a 1-10 I would start at 41 or 42 and work up. Good choice on WW brass and primers.

It's 1:10, and I've already been up to 44 gr. I shot them there long enough to know it's not where any accuracy is. Heading back down. LOL!

Ran my loads over the chronograph today.Used WLRM primer on all, with Winchester cases. The 46.5 Accurate 4064 load is slightly compressed.I shot two repeatable groups with TAC and one four shot group with the CFE223.This was all the ammo I loaded for this test.Velocities were fairly close, but the Accurate 4064 and TAC seemed to group the best.

CFE -223 @ 44.0 is where I found good accuracy with 175. 46.0 with 168gr. You will be taking up a lot of powder space with those 200gr ELDX in 308 Win.
