Folks,

I discovered Cavitybackbullets.com about 2 months ago. For those of us in states that require the use of non-lead hunting bullets the Cavity Back bullet is an interesting concept. The base of the bullet is a cavity. Thus......
What interested me about the bullet was its G1 BC of .505. It has a boat tail hollow end, and its 4 petals form a tight uniform hollow point.
The hollow base allows for the loading of additional powder, and increased aerodynamic stability at higher speeds. The manufacturer does not give any load data, but recommends that the reloader follow standard data for a similar weight bullet.
I am using Hornady load data, Hornady brass new or once fired. 6.5 Creedmoor, 42.2gr of RL-17, CCI 200 LRP, COAL of cartridge is 2.740 (this might be changed later). I used Hornady OAL gauge and the COAL of 2.851 was measured.
At the range I used my Magneto-Speed chrono and got the following measurements
1. 2865fps
2. 2866fps
3.2848fps
4.2851fps
5. 2858fps
6. 2906fps
7. 2866fps
8. 2858fps
Average-2865fps
The load was very accurate (see pics), 8 shots in the heart of a deer target at 100yds. The group was .99 inches by 1.33 inches. Shot out of a Savage Hunter/Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor 1:8 twist 24 inch barrel. Very happy with the results.
The data provided is for reference only, use at your own risk. I take no responsibility. Stay tuned..........A2

How did you order them? I went to their sight and could not find a place to buy them. They sure need to get their act together so a guy can click on something like "order here" or "buy here" or something. Most of the time when I go to a sight like that I just say forget it. But I have a new rifle on the way and want some of both their 105 and their 118 to try.

Update: The owner of Cavity Back Bullets responded to my email with a call. The two bullets are very popular and out of stock. He said it will be two week before they are available and he will call me because they don't do back orders.

Also he said he is having the web sight totally rebuilt professionally to make it more user friendly. Both ideas made me happy.

Also, I just remembered he said the .505 BC for the 118 grainer is based on firing to 1000 yards. He continued by telling me how much inflated BCs are annoying.
