Carbon barrel protection?

What's everyone using to protect your carbon barrels from rocks and abrasion?

I cant seem to find anything to fit my needs.

The athletic type cloth tape is good but prevents easy in/out of my pack scabbard.

The slick stuff is too shiny for my taste.

Other options?

I don't use anything except proper care of my firearm. I have been fortunate with this so far. My rifle has been on numerous backpacking hunts as well taken to Alaska, Canada and Africa.

I don't own a carbon wrapped barrel but I did watch a video of the proof research guys demolishing a cinder Block with one of their barrels and it seemed to come out of the ordeal almost unscathed. I don't think I would do anything to it.

I use the same thing with my carbon barrels as I have used with my steel barrels for 30+ years. Care.

I'm on my third barrel on one rifle I do care for them but not obsessive about it never even had a scratch

Mine I wipe down,ten years old of use.Seems good,rolled my rig hope it still shoots.

I have put 17 rounds thru my proof 65284...gunsmith shot 3...

# 20, 19 & 18....
#17, 16 & 15....
#14, 13 & 12....
Three shot groups at 100...all were .69 or smaller....
that was a load for my other 65284....
So far...so good.....

I've got a Christensen barrel and have hunted it and not been extremely careful at all, I do wipe it down from time to time but that's about it. I've got one tiny little scratch in it, probably from slipping on a rock where I had leaned it up to rest. But extremely durable

I have a few proof barrels and I don't think you can hurt them even with hard use

I agree with others here - I don;t do anything special to CF, and I'm not too worried about any damage.

I have one because it's light and accurate, they look cool but that's just a bonus. It's a tool. I clean it so it lasts. The first ding/scratch is the only one that ever hurts. Glass is the exception, take incredible care of optics.

I recently got a carbon for my chicken 22. I used compression hockey tape for the couple of times I went out, the stuff without glue. I did just about the whole rifle in it and fell on it pretty hard. Messed up the tape but no scratches whatsoever.

I think they call it cohesive? It's great for grip too
