I just read that Justin Trudeau banned 1500 different types of firearms. What is of interest in this action also bans firearms that have more than 10,000 joules of energy at the muzzle. If the google ft-lbs to joules converter is correct then it effectively bans cartridges that produce 7300 or more foot-pounds of energy. This means that .408s, .416 Barretts, and many other ELR type cartridges are also banned. I don't think for a minute that the intent of the 10,000-joule limit was aimed exclusively at the .50 BMG. Was a .50 BMG or other ELR cartridge used in the recent shootings in Canada?

Trudeau's actions should concern all of us gun owners in the U.S. We could be only one election away from being in the same situation as many lawful Canadian firearms owners.

The 10,000 joule just proves what I have been saying all along, that our mortal enemies on the anti gun side will NOT stop with a ban on semi-autos.

I hope Canadians resist this through ALL means available...

20mm is way bigger than a 12ga. The article mentioned shotguns with removable chokes. Just curious why only shotguns with removable chokes.

Removable chokes often protrude from the end of the barrel. To get an accurate measurement of the barrel length and diameter they are measured with the choke removed. The inside diameter of the choke threads varies from 20.02 mm to 20.14 mm, depending on who made the choke. After notice of several court challenges Bozo Billy aka Cabinet minister Bill Blair promised that 12 gauge and 10 gauge shotguns were not on the list. My lgs is not currently selling them because they have not received any correspondence to that effect and the law hasn't been amended. In case you are interested, the Black Rifle Coffee Company, the website AR-15.com, and the Black Rifle air soft gun with orange tip, are also banned. We are SO fucked!!!

Kelly I don't need to measure a shotgun barrel again to tell that a normal 12ga is .729 and an over bore is usually about .740 I know some mossbergs and other shotguns with 3.5 inch Chambers run larger bores to reduce recoil and pressure. But bores over 20mm is not common. So are all 12 ga illegal or only if they are bigger than 20mm.
