I own two, a 26 and 29 inch. With all the newest powders and bullet options the 270 win. Can go from varminter with 110 gr to very high BC 175 grain.

I use lots of retumbo and R-26 in the heavy rounds. h100V and Superformance in lighter

Feenix: Can you share some performance for the .270AI with 150+ bullets? The .270 is my next build and the AI is huge possibility. Barrel length? I am going to go with at least 26" maybe even 27" to take advantage of RL26.
Thx!

Yes please got me thinking about the AI to

Sorry, but as noted in #33, it was built primarily for 165/175 Matrix. Unfortunately, 175 Matrix is all I had time to play with does far. Most harvest has been deer (WTs and muleys) and antelopes <600Y thus far. Spec is as follows:

Action: Savage 110 LA
Stock: B&C carbelite
Barrel: 30" Lilja SS 3G 1:8" #6 5/8-24" thread JP Bennie Coule MB
Optics: Burris Veracity 4-20 FFP with Horus Vision HSLI on a 20 MOA EGW rail
Trigger: Factory tuned to 2.5 lbs

Below are some of the harvests with 175 Matrix VLDs ...

(Taken at <200Y, no it is not a gut shot. If you look closer, the heart is blown out. Got to admit, I did not expect this much devastation. Despite that, it was still minimal meat damage/waste.

Sometimes an antelope hunt turns into a coyote hunt (taken at 525 yards) ...

IIRC, @Alibiiv build his .270 AI with 26" and shoots 150g bullets. Hopefully, he'll chime in. Cheers!

It looks like that load of yours kills them and guts them all with one shot!

It has been my experience hunting with 150 -169.5 .277 bullets from close to far that I have never recovered a bullet. Some of them with very little expansion just pass through on a typical heart lung shot. They were DRT but some just stood still for a period before falling over

Barnes X type bullet make for large exit wounds. I've only used the TSX 130 and 140 mule deer hunting. 3200 fps 130 and 3100 140 gr. They have all been DRT

I thought that I had somehow gut shot a big mule buck once with a 150 spbt. When I walked up to him, it had guts hanging out. But when I rolled it over it had a pass through maybe 50 cent size exit on the chest rib area. Opened him up to field dress and the chest was just blood. The lungs were vaporized and the hydraulic shock wave had split the belly open just like the above posted pictures

I was amazed just how wild my new Tikka shot the 145 grain ELD-X Precision Hunters. 3" groups at 100 yards. I have some 136 grain Federal Terminal Ascents coming.
