I have had nothing but DRT dramatic kills with the 120gr BT across a myriad of muzzle velocities. 90% of my shots here in the Deep South are under 200yds. I'm literally planning to hunt my stand for this year with a .24 Nosler I built using 90gr Ballistic Tips to test for an article if that tells you anything. That also means I'm at sea level. Not sure how high you are or where they record data in manuals, but we really have to work for extra speed down here.I've only ever tried h1000 and rl23. Are you set on using the 120 bt bullet? If i remember correctly they have a really long bearing surface. I'm shooting 61.5 grains in adg brass and 62 in the Norma they are different lots and definitely max in my guns so work up.
Having said that, no, I'm not dead set on using that bullet. They were inexpensive to use for break-in, and I knew I could gauge where the rifle was compared to that old 6.5x284 I mentioned earlier. I have a plethora of choices. I've found the 130gr VLD Hunting to be very easy to load super accurately in a couple different platforms. I do have some 142gr ABLRs, 127gr LRXs, 143 ELD-Xs, and some others. 140gr BTs, which will have even more bearing surface.
