Black Bear Double!

After several long days in the mountains, a few blisters and battling a lot of rain and fog, we finally found what we were looking for. My buddy and I doubled up and took two bears within 15 minutes and 400 yards of each other. You come prepared to take long shots and I ended up shooting him at 271 yards. Such is life My buddies was even closer (180) with a tikka superlite 708.

143gr ELDX for me. He was using hornady custom lite ammo in his 7mm08 - I think it is a 120gr SST.

Just curious, do you eat the bears?

This was in Montana and they require you to take the meat - so we cook it well and eat it. Its not my favorite, but I have eaten worse things
