Bipod on a Cooper 92

I would like to put an Atlas Bipod on my Cooper 92, 6.5x284, however from what I have heard is that it is not advisable. Does anyone have any experience? Can the stock forehand handle it?

I put one on a buddies 92 300 win mag and it hasn't had an issue. I have seen others have had issues and told him but so far it has held up. The tape in the photo is from when I was mocking it up and sending him photos to make sure he was good with it before drilling and expoxying stuff
