I'm going to have a NULA 24 rebarreled to 25/06. This will be a lightweight hunting rifle for deer, caribou, and possibly black bear. I have over 500 115gr nosler ballistic tips and plan in getting some 121gr hammer hunters for it.

I was thinking 1-8. Is there are disadvantages to going 1-7 vs 1-8? It would free up a few more bullet options.

Thanks

"If" you are going to shoot a bullet requiring 1:8" then go with 1:7". I have 1:7" on my .257 WBTY; it was primarily built to propel the 133/135 Bergers and 131 BJ's. Good luck!

I would go with a twist that stabiles some of the newer longer heavier bullet options. 7.5 or 8 twist is what I would look at. Your 115 BTs should still shoot fine and you won't be limited if you want to change bullets down the road

I agree with the others. Go with a 7 so you don't limit yourself on what bullet you can shoot. I went 1 in 7.25"in my 25-284 and it's still not enough twist to comfortably shoot the 128 hammer. Shoots the 131 BJ great.

Like everyone said go 7 twist. That's what I just bought to do another 25-06 . The first one I did was 10 twist it shoots great but I want to be able to shoot the 110 hammers or 133 Berger's.

If you change the barrel to a 1:7 or 1:8 can you still shoot factory ammo? I am still new to reloading and re barreling firearms.

Sorry for the dump question

I can't tell you enough how excellent their barrels are! Go with their best barrel and you'll have the best barrel!

I went with 1-7 and have no complaints. Shoots factory 117gr Hornady loads under an inch consistently and does a bit better with my 125gr hammer loads
