Best scope for 400-500.00

What would be the best scope for a 270 in the range of 500.00. A friend payed 500.00 down on a 4-wheeler for me and now doesn't want t take his money back. So I'm going to put a good scope on a 270 that i put together for him. he loves hunting but never wants to spend the money for a good scope (Simmons only). This is the perfect time to get him one. I would like it to have turrets so maybe i can get him to shoot over 100 yds. I don't think he will ever shoot over 500 yds so what would be the best scope out there??????????????????????????

Do you have a power range in mind? Reticle choice? Boatloads of options out there, just trying to help narrow it down a bit.

some where around a 4.5-14 / 6.5x20 a regular Reticle would work. Needs turret and good glass

Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 has the midheight turrets or can have tall turrets for an extra 50. They are 450 from optics planet and have a lifetime warranty
