Best powder for LR 300 win mag

In the process of getting all the reloading components together to reload for a custom LR 300 win mag. I am planning on shooting either a 210 or 215 grain bullet (berger or nosler ALR... can't find either in stock), and was wondering what powders you guys would recommend.

I've got some H1000 that I was going to start with... any thoughts on Retumbo? too slow?

Any starting loads with these bullets seated out far would be appreciated as well...

Thanks!
Been shooting the 300wm for a number of years (30+). Been using the H1000 OVER CCI 250 Mag Primers And Fed Brass. For the 180 gr Hornaday SST IM AT 80 gr Of Power. For the 208 gr SST IVE TRYED AND HAPPY AT 78.5gr Of the H1000, both seem to work for me. Have Droped the Last Elk at 800 +/- yards. One shot, one kill! That was with the 180 gr SST!
Good Luck in your search, be Safe, shoot on!

Load devolping for my buddy's .300 WM (I reload his ammo for him, since he doesn't have the coin for a nice setup right now), we have discovered that H1000 and Reloder 22 are the most consistant in his rifle with his bullet of choice (Hornady 178 A-Max).

Hope this helps.

I haven't read all the replies, but if not previously stated I'd use H1000 or N570 with the Berger 210 VLD-H. N570 will give you a little better velocity than H1000, but they will both shoot very repeatably in the 300WM.

I use RL26 for 300 rum with 215m and 215 gr Berger at 2970 fps, very consistent. It also works very well for my 6.5/284 & 243.

How is your temperature stability with R26? I have been tempted to try it but I have heard mixed reviews. I have been using Retumbo which gives about +100FPS velocity over H1000 in my 300WM and has excellent temperature stability from sub freezing to 75F which I encounter during hunting season.

Anyone with experience with the fairly new 7977? Supposed to be temp stable. I've tried it in my 7mm RM (nearly same case as 300 WM) using 180 Bergers. 2900 FPS and have shot several 1/2 MOA groups.
