best non rem action for feeding reliability of SAUM cartridges

if building a 7mm saum, and may (probably) seat the bullets long i.e. long action, what is the best action to use for feeding reliability? does the rebated rim even matter? i;d like a mauser clawed action, but am not apposed to push feeds. all other rifle details arent important, just want a good accurate action that will feed with minimal/NO hiccups. thanx to all for all info!

I'm running a 7saum based on a winny wsm action & 28" benchmark barrel with CDI metal, & alpha wsm mags with zero difficulties so far (2 matches & about 400 rounds). 180 hybrids feed fine at 2.960" COAL for me (about max for the mag). Initial ladders have given me a .102" node at 58 gr 4831sc & a .370" node at 61 gr 4831 sc. I still need to test for consistency on those two, but I'm optimistic since I've seen 3 shots hold ~.1" from 175 smk's & ~.3" 162 amax blems.

that's pretty impressive! would it be a safe assertion to make in saying that anything that feeds wsm's well "should" run the saums equally well? and of course the alpha mags for the long boolits.

I built a 7SAUM on a Sako AV action / Sako bottom metal and have no feeding problem issue.

The best solution for feeding short magnums in any action that I have found, is to use a center feed
mag box so you can tune the box and not rely on the rails in the action.

A regular Staggered magazine can be made to work with time and patience but the center feed
can/will work great.

Push feed actions work best when single loading and with rebated rims. The Mauser can be made to push feed by a competent Gun Smith.

A pro hunter in South Africa mentioned to me some years ago that the Winchester 70's and the big Magnum Mauser actions were the most reliable feeding big rounds from box magazines. He'd seen Reminton actions jam or have bolt overrides with big cases but zero problems with the Winchesters or big Mauser actions.

In rapid fire matches shot here in the USA, the Win. 70's have proved the most reliable compared to any other USA made internal box magazine rifle. Decades ago, when M1903 Springfields and M1917 Enfield actions were used in such events, the M1903 proved the most reliable. Note the M1903 was designed with Mauser 98 features after royalties were paid to Mauser Werks to use them. When both were the basis for commercial rifle action designs, the M1917 was the foundation for the Remington model 720 and later the 721, 722 and 700 actions. The M1903 was the design base for the Winchester model 54 and later the model 70.

A plus advise here... Have not seen many post from JE that I would do different or can disagree on!.. I would look at a 9 lug Weatherby Action if I were in your shoes!
