best for antelope

My suggestion is a .25-06 AI with 115 Bergers. Shoots flat enough, far enough, and hits hard enough to take down deer and antelope out to 500-600 yards.

what do you consider a good caliber and cartridge for long range antelope hunting out west?7mm or 30 caliber?or the 264 cases?

As others noted, you cannot go wrong with any of them, it boils down to personal preference. My personal preference and go to chambering is the .300 Win Mag from antelope to elk size game.

Here are some antelope harvested with the .300 Win Mag ...

They are all good. For antelope, at long range, the biggest factor is without doubt the wind, especially in Wyoming. So the largest caliber and heaviest bullet, with best BC you can handle is best.

+1! It's the same thing here in Montana ...

Same here, my buddies used to say I was way over gunned but the last six antelope I have shot were with a .300 WM 180 grain barnes TTSX. No damaged meat and they were dead when I got to them. Not to mention that there is something about using the same rifle for almosy everything.

6.5 grendel 5-600 yards
6.5 creedmoor 8-900 yards
6.5x284 past 900

Good advice here.

I'm headed to the 6.5 Creed for my pronghorn rifle and won't look back.

My 6.5 Swede with 130 Berger VLD hunting bullets has served me well for MANY years. (Yes, I'm "seasoned.")

Both are friends, new and old, in the field for pronghorn and deer. Can't do much better IMHO.

Yep, the worst I've done thus far was busted 3 ribs at the boiler room, hardly any meat wasted. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement ...

This year, I will using .300 WSM loaded with 215 Berger. :D

I shoot 2 to 3 a year and hunt them all with 300 winny and 215 Berger. Klilled a buck this year at 647 and a doe at 724. I agree with Barrelnut.
It's funny how many people think a 300wm is "Too big for antelope." Well, if you shoot them through the ribs you're not losing anymore meat than you would with a .243.

I started hunting antelope with a .243, then I moved up to my 7 STW. Then I wanted a 6.5 caliber rifle, and I "justified" buying a 6.5-284 Norma to be my dedicated antelope rifle. All are good choices. I NEEDED a new rifle.......I'm sure some others here can understand the addiction I have
