Best economy 270 WSM and scope

Oooooooh.... I'm going to muddy the waters and cause controversy! .308 Win, 7mm-08 or the 260 Rem. 800 yard rifles for all deer size came and under. 500 yard rifles for Elk. Is it the best cartrides for 500yd elk? No, but they will do the job definitely and fit the economy bill much more so than any magnum.

So you already own a 7mm Rem Mag, and now you're thinking 270WSM?

In many ways those two calibers are so alike that I'm not sure what you hope to gain.

If I were you (and I'm not) I'd upgrade to a Timney (yes, there is one: Savage 110) or a trigger from SSS, and consider swapping out the stock for one from a Savage specialist; two come to mind and are listed below. If you're really in for it, have the whole thing tuned when you have the stock installed. Now install the scope of your choice and go for it!

If I were thinking of a second rifle, I'd go a fair amount larger (30 cal and up) or smaller (25 cal or so).
