Benellit P1 Automatic 300 Win Mag

I have a good friend who bought a Benelli P1 Automatic Chambered for the 300 Winchester Magnum. Have no idea why he wanted one other than the fact that he shoots a Benelli M2 12 ga. He gave away a Remington 700 in 300 WM.
He plans on using it for hunting Coastal Blacktails in California with it...............I might have understood him getting it in a 30-06 I would guess that Auto's were designed for use in the Woods Back East for Deer hunting but out here in the West..............I have never ever seen anyone using one.

What are your thoughts...........................................I know nothing about them.

A friend's wife shoots an R1 in .300 Win Mag have taken quite a few cow elk with it mostly under 300 yards.

An R1 you mean?

I bought one in 270 WSM for my dad right when they came out. It's about an inch gun at best on a good day, 1.5" is more normal. Plenty good for hunting at moderate ranges. He loves it, it fits him very well, not much recoil and comes to the shoulder like a shotgun. I would buy one for a truck gun if they came in .243.
