Hello,

First, if this should be in Gunsmithing please move.

I have a Rem700 in a .243 with a 9-1/8 twist factory barrel. It shoots 80gr very well and 100 handloads pretty well. Will not shoot 105's of any flavor

I see alot of 1-8 twist mentioned for the .243

My question is a 1-8 twist will stabilize the heavier bullet ( VLD etc..) but how will the 80-90 gr bullets do?

This is a hunting rifle.
Thanks for any input

I have heard a 1:9 1/8 twist will stabilize a 105gr A-MAX but not the longer 105gr Berger VLD, haven't tested it in my Remington .243 but would like too. A 1:8 will definitely work with 105s and the lowest weight arounds 85s or 87s.
