Barrel contours ?

my new rifle build is down to the barrel length and contour I have a 17 Remington with a 24" Lilja #3 barrel It has a McMillian Scout Stock and it is a joy to shoot. I would like the same weight for the 6 CM The smith said #4 contour 24" Whats the advantage is having a #4 over a #3 and is there an added velocity increase by going from a 24" barrel to a 26" ?

40-60fps gain with 2" barrel length.
#4 over #3 for stiffness of barrel.

A 6CM is not a big round. #3 would be plenty still for that round. Get what you want.
