A friend whose opinion I value very much was looking at my custom brake recently and suggested that he considered it manditory that my 11 degree barrel crown open directly to a set of holes on the brake. My holes were much further up the barrel and he suggested that it would negate the excellent crown work. What say you guys?

What has Vais, Answer, and other commercial units done in this regard?
Any stories to tell before and after this kind of work? Is there anything in writing to support the design of brakes?

Thanx

Randy; I like the Vias design and use it on the 338 Lapua Mag. I'm not sure about degrees on the crown as you have stated in relationship to this brake design. I do know there must be a connection that I do not understand; but the front hole disbersment in the Vias, works very well in the above rifle.
