what are you shooting it in?? I've shot a few hundred of the 171 barnes matchburners. They have done well for me with mild loads in a 7rem and do well for me in cold weather in my 7rum with a rather mild load with retumbo. I think the bullet is a bit lightly constructed to really push hard from a bigger magnum though. I'm using the 175 hdy interloack at present but working with the 168 berger vld target. I'll shoot the barnes up the next couple of winters.

in (as in cartridge) not on... it should be fine for moderate critters as a bullet, but drive it too hard in a big cartridge and you may have flaky accuracy in warm weather.
